The internet had a field day late last month in April when Balenciaga unveiled a $2,000.00 dollar Ikea-esque tote bag that very much resembles the well-known IKEA “Frakta” Bag that shoppers use to carry items they have purchased, or plan to purchase within the IKEA store. Ikea has since responded with a very funny campaign throwing shade at the luxury fashion label, and the internet has created numerous products, from Yeezys to snapbacks and even women’s underwear that have been inspired by the IKEA brand. However, regardless of the whole ordeal, one video I would really like to share is a video that two Stockholm vloggers Julia Dang and Maya Nilson have come to create for their Youtube channel TheLineUp. This video is called “The Ikea Streetwear Lookbook” and it features the pair going to an IKEA store, buying some of the famous Frakta Bags, dismantling them (not shown), to use in order to create new pieces and to add some of those dismantled pieces to their pre-existing wardrobe.

Some of my favorite pieces to see were: the Yellow hoodie with the idea straps along the sleeves, the slip-on with an IKEA strap running across the front, and the Sling bag that seems to be made entirely out of the “frakta” material.  I can only imagine how cool it would be to see a fanny pack made out of the same material. Nevertheless, please enjoy the video below:
